Laurens County School District 55 is extremely proud to recognize Tasijha "Nya" Hunter, a junior at Laurens District High School, as the recipient of a scholarship from The Nanny & Pop Foundation (a charitable organization based in Greenwood). The organization annually awards a "worry-free, all-expenses-paid" vacation to Myrtle Beach for a deserving student and family. With assistance from Laurens District High School's Counselors, the organization surprisingly awarded Nya Hunter this special opportunity on Monday, May 19, 2025, during her lunchtime. Nya was chosen because she's a "genuinely humble student who excels academically and in extracurricular activities (notably competitive cheerleading).
" Inspired by Nya's determination and dedication to achieve beyond ordinary efforts, Chris Tollison (President of The Nanny & Pop Foundation) deferred the "worry-free, all-expenses-paid" vacation and graciously awarded Nya as the organization's first scholarship recipient.
Congratulations, Nya Hunter on this monumental accomplishment.
