Accountability

Our accountability function focuses on improving learning outcomes for all students by providing leadership and support while ensuring that federal and state requirements for accountability are met. South Carolina's school districts and public elementary, middle, and high schools accountability measures are reported annual on a State Report Card. This report card includes Information on school ratings, school safety, classroom environment, graduation rate, student academic progress, college and career readiness, and additional academic information.

A district and school report card is just one piece of information, that, when combined with a student's individual state test results and report card grades, gives parents a more accurate picture of their children's academic experience.

Assessment

Laurens County School District #55 implements and supports district, state, and national assessments in an effort to achieve higher student academic success. Assessment results are utilized to provide more individualized instruction for students, building on personal strengths and abilities. We provide training and support for district and state assessments, test security, as well as compliance with all testing regulations.

Parental support is an integral part of assessment and serves as the basis of our students' growth towards becoming more productive adults.

Multi-Lingual Learners

The goal of Laurens County School District 55’s Multi-Lingual Learners Program is to provide equal educational opportunities to students who have a primary or home language other than English. Our goals is to provide targeted instruction in an English-rich environment so those students will become proficient in English as soon as possible.

Laurens District 55 strives to create a learning environment that encourages student pride in their cultural heritage and provides the cognitive and affective support to help Multilingual Learners (MLs) be an integral part of the Laurens 55 Community.

Parenting/Volunteers

A parent coach is trained to help parents discover more of their own answers, providing the ultimate in family support and parent guidance that results in positive changes for the entire family.

A parent coach can help parents slow down and start enjoying their children more while making sure they are taking care of themselves.

Our LCSD 55 Parent Coach is here to help parents set goals for their children, listen, affirm, nudge, and nurture parents in the direction of their dreams.
