The superintendent is appointed by the Laurens County School District #55 Board of Trustees.  In order to be considered for the position of superintendent, a person must hold at least a master's degree, preferably a doctorate, in the area of educational administration from a recognized, accredited institution.  All other minimum requirements specifically set forth by the South Carolina State Board of Education must also be met. 

The superintendent is the chief administrator of the district and supervises the work of all schools, officers and employees of the district. The regulations of the board are enforced by the superintendent. 

The contract of the superintendent is a public document and available for viewing by request.
