One Community, Connected for Education

Laurens County School District #55 (LCSD 55) is pleased to announce the development of a full-time online virtual academy learning option for students in grades 5K through 12 beginning in the fall of 2020.

In a called meeting on July 8, 2020, the LCSD 55 Board of Trustees unanimously approved the implementation of Laurens County Virtual Academy for the 2020-2021 school year.

Laurens County Virtual Academy is designed to accommodate families who may not be ready for a return to face-to-face instruction due to COVID-19 concerns.  Some families may select Laurens County Virtual Academy because they found online learning to be a good fit for their student during the last several weeks of the 2019-2020 school year.

Unlike other online education options, Laurens County Virtual Academy will provide students with real-time instruction by teachers from their community, a set schedule, interaction with teachers, and use of a district-provided device.  Laurens County Virtual Academy curriculum will align with the South Carolina College and Career Ready Standards.  Students will be able to earn credit toward a South Carolina Diploma and graduate from their high school.
