A Message from the Superintendent

Creating A New Norm

The 2016-2017 school year was filled with highlights and achievements.  I want to thank our teachers, staff, parents, students, and community for their contributions to the overall success of our schools and district.

As we prepare for the 2017-2018 school year, we are excited about expanding our reach by expanding our vision.  Our theme for the 2017-2018 school year is "Creating A New Norm."

We will once again depend on our belief that "Nobody Rises to Low Expectations" to drive our efforts to produce high achieving schools and students.

As literacy is the foundation of our school district, our objective is to strengthen our partnership with parents to leverage the 30 for 30 reading initiative to produce desired results.  Further, we will depend heavily on our school leaders to establish effective school climates and cultures rooted in academic rigor and a socio-emotional focus that promotes safety, security, and high achievement.

As superintendent of schools, I want to thank you for your support and commitment to public education.  We continue to believe in "All Hands on Deck" and "No Child Left Out" as we "Create a New Norm" in Laurens County School District 55.

The superintendent is appointed by the Laurens County School District #55 Board of Trustees.  In order to be considered for the position of superintendent, a person must hold at least a master's degree, preferably a doctorate, in the area of educational administration from a recognized, accredited institution.  All other minimum requirements specifically set forth by the South Carolina State Board of Education must also be met.

The superintendent is the chief administrator of the district and supervises the work of all schools, officers and employees of the district. The regulations of the board are enforced by the superintendent.
